Structure

Recognising the individual

I do not believe in forcing a pupil into a style or genre of music that they don't like. If you have a budding Taylor Swift, then then I will develop a repertoire that is safe for your child. Children have a limited vocal range initially, and as many pop songs are written for adults these can damage their developing voices. I can help them to sing the songs they love- in a range that is safe for them.

Age appropriate structure

It goes without saying that an adult has a different concentration span to a 5 year old. All younger children enjoy a different pace of lesson- recent themes we have enjoyed include "princess week" and "mermaid week" with the help of the book "The Singing Mermaid"!

Communication is key

Each week I will write in yours or your child's book detailing our learning objectives for the lesson and what needs to be practised. Each term every pupil receives a detailed, written report.

When you stop having fun, you stop learning

Music is supposed to be fun. If it becomes a chore you have lost the battle. I aim to keep all lessons fresh, vibrant and enjoyable.
